The roleplaying within the Burning Post is intense (sometimes referred to as RPI,) in-theme, and in-character with great freedom to expand upon your character. The game is currently in Beta testing. That means we are still actively working on the game, but it is open, and accepting players.

Centuries ago, mages and men worked together throughout the realms. The Seven, those most powerful mages of the realms, guided others, both man and mage alike, as needed.

But in Sun Calendar 109, King Dav ab Harmon of Lithmore disregarded the advice of the Seven. To warn him, or scare him perhaps, into acceding to their wishes, the Royal Apartments were immolated in fire. Either accidentally or intentionally, the Royal Family was slain that day, for all but King Dav himself were there. Grief-stricken, Dav ran to the mountains, leaving all behind. He was gone for over two months, and his seneschal oversaw the Royal Funerals and daily matters of the land. Finally, Authryn ab Sidharr, the Seneschal, convened a Royal Council to determine the succession.

King Dav returned during the time the Council was meeting, bedraggled and somewhat emaciated but very much alive. And very much insane with grief and rage, towards those who had killed his family. The returned King pronounced to his Council that no longer would users of magic be suffered in his land. He ordered a bounty for all known mages, and called for their deaths.

And so it was that King Dav began the Consolidation, by taking through force of arms all Kingdoms which bordered his, and putting to death any he caught who used magic. Gradually kingdom after kingdom fell to the onslaught of Dav's armies till in the end only the kingdom of Vavard remained to oppose the might of Lithmore.

The Burning Post is set in the early period of the old Inquisition mud. The small island of New Yarsith located at the mouth of the Bren river serves as a focal point for events in the new empire in the years following King Dav's War of Consolidation. Dubbed the city of borders, representatives from every major guild, duchy, and even the kingdom of Vavard have gathered there at the behest of the King. At New Yarsith they will each vie to shape the future of the consolidated realm to their advantage in a bitter game of politics and intrigue. Lords and commoners both work to better their lot amidst the backdrop of intense religious inquisition.

What part will you play? Will you make your mark on the history of Urth or simply be a pawn? Perhaps you will be rise through the ranks from a lowly steward of your cause to become a someone embroiled in the politics that drive it. Or strike out on your own as a free agent, offering your services and sword to the highest bidder.Perhaps even stake your own claim to Urth as an autocrat, beholden to no ones
goals but yours.

Be the noble knight who hunts relentlessly the vile users of magic, or the scheming thief on the lookout for pockets to pilfer. The mage who hides away and patiently bides the time till he masters the arcane arts or the inquisitor who brings the question to all and cleanses with fire. Are you the bard who plays with an amiable smile, whilst listening intently for secrets to glean or the mercenary just looking for another job and bread to fill your stomach. The possibilities are endless.
